Kai King qualified as a Dental Hygienist from University Birmingham Dental School in 1986. She has practised as a Hygienist for over 20 years in private, specialist practice and has also worked in the NHS general dental service for over 10 years. In that time she has established a reputation for excellence in the field of dental disease prevention. She has constantly upgraded her skills and specialises in advanced periodontal (gum disease) cases. In addition Kai teaches dental health education in schools.
Kai’s first job as a Hygienist was in a Specialist department of a Ministry of Defence Hospital overseas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She worked closely with its Periodontist (Robin Davis), Oral Surgeons, Orthodontist and Restorative Specialists treating some of the very first dental implant cases, kidney transplant patients and cosmetic surgery patients. She also cared for members of the Saudi Royal Family.
Kai King has constantly been involved in the education of and profession of Dental Hygienist by volunteering her services to the British Society of Dental Hygiene & Therapy (BSDHT) and the British Society of Periodontology (BSP) in various roles. Serving as North West Region as Chairman, Regional Representative on council and Sponsorship Liaison Officer for the North West Regional Group and now holds the position Hon’ Treasurer BSDHT NW and Conference Manager for BSP NW. Her jobs being to promote the profession, educate and encourage best practice.
Kai takes pride in her success and longevity and can boast that some of her patients still have their teeth today even after being told many years ago that they may lose them!
She has also coached Dental Nurses, some of whom have gone on to train as Dental Hygienists/Therapists themselves.
