Mouth Cancer Screening

This is a serious condition which grows in your mouth; common areas of growth include the tongue, floor of the mouth and palate. It is very important to spot cancer early, as treatment is successful in early stages. Regular checkups include a cancer screening. Over 1700 people died in 2009 from mouth cancer. Risk factors for oral cancer include smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, poor diet and family history. Please discuss with your dentist methods of quitting smoking when you next attend. Regular checkups by your dentist can help detect abnormalities in the mouth as early as possible.
