Oral Surgery (Extractions)
Did you know we have our own dental specialist in oral surgery who would be more than happy to help you?Wisdom Teeth
Our advice regarding wisdom teeth is if they don’t cause problems don’t have them out. However if they are causing problems we would be happy to help you. Your dentist would take any x-rays and discuss your options. The procedure is normally done under local anaesthetic, dental sedation is also available. It normally takes about 30 minutes to extract a wisdom tooth.

Post operative instructions after extractions
« Back to General Dentistry - First 24 hours no hot drinks, alcohol or medication such as ibuprofen or aspirin
- Chew on the opposite side so you don’t cause trauma to the socket
- Cut your food into smaller pieces
- After 24 hours start to rinse with lukewarm salt water for 7 days
- If the socket starts to bleed, please bite on a clean piece of gauze or handkerchief - not tissue - for 15 minutes. If that doesn’t stop bleeding then come in and see us ASAP
- It is common to get some painful swelling for 24-72 hours after the extractions. We recommend using paracetamol, but speak to your dentist regarding pain management.
