If you want to learn the truth about your teeth then tune into BBC One at 9pm this Thursday 4th June. It’s the first of a two episode programme (part two is on Thursday 11th June) and in it some of Britain’s top dentists will show you how the latest science can change the way we look after our teeth. No doubt they’ll be passing on plenty of tips and advice, plus, we understand, telling us one or two horror stories, like the Manchester mum who superglued her teeth back in when they fell out. A tactic that eventually caused her to lose 90 per cent of the bone supporting the teeth in her upper jaw!
Obviously at Carisbrook Dental, the dentists Manchester specialists, we have a special interest in programmes such as this and we would recommend that if at all possible you watch it. Being at the ‘sharp end’ of dental health we have a pretty accurate understanding of the UK’s oral health. Reassuringly we can report that it has never been better.
That may surprise some people, but going back over the past half century for instance, there has been remarkable progress in the way science has helped dentists such as Carisbrook to care for patients’ teeth. Just as importantly there have also been big changes, better products and improvements in the way most people now look after their teeth.
Today, instead of routinely removing decayed or damaged teeth; dentists such as Carisbrook are now able to save them thanks to the latest developments in remedial treatment and filling technology. In the main people are more conscious of the look of their teeth and they not only spend more time on looking after them at home, but, with the rise in pain-free practices, they are also far more willing to visit their dentist. At Carisbrook more patients than ever are now asking us about orthodontics to correct misaligned teeth, while many more patients come to us to discuss the benefits of crowns, implants, veneers and teeth whitening in order to improve the appearance of their smile.
Since 1945 successive UK Governments have also played their part with the introduction of fluoride and improved access to NHS dentists thanks to the extra funding that has become available.
At Carisbrook dentists Manchester we’ve certainly been aware of these improvements as well as the growth in patient demand, which is why our range of dental treatments has also constantly been developed and extended. Our cosmetic dentistry page for instance includes a wider range of treatment options than ever before. We are the acknowledged Dental Implants Manchester specialists. Our reputation for Teeth Whitening is second to none and we are seeing more and more patients who come to us because they simply want a more attractive smile. Our restorative dentistry and preventative dentistry pages are also a source of information and sound advice.
We will certainly be watching the two episodes of ‘The Truth About … Your Teeth’ and we would recommend that you do your best to catch it on BBC One this Thursday at 9pm.
If after watching the programme you have any questions then please do not hesitate to ask us. You can call us on 0161 951 7295 or you can reach us via our contact page, where you can even join in our online chat and we will do our best to answer your questions.
