The importance of good dental hygiene cannot be overstated. In order to keep up a good level of dental hygiene it is recommended that you visit one of our hygienists at least twice a year. Our hygienists are devoted to improving and maintaining the health of your gums – they’ll give you instructions on how to keep up a good level of oral health and also will aid you with treatments as with scaling and polishing when necessary.

Tooth brushing

Some of the most common issues that arise from poor dental hygiene are dental cavities, bad breath, and gingivitis. By regular teeth-brushing, you remove all the bad build ups from your teeth – plaque and tartar – and this prevents your teeth and gums from succumbing to various diseases. These diseases can be pretty serious – gum disease can quite often contribute towards tooth loss. Recent studies published have confirmed the link between gum disease and heart disease. Some of the bacteria which cause gum disease have been proven to be linked with furring up of arteries leading to life-threatening heart disease. Therefore healthy gums can also mean a healthy heart.

It is crucial to floss in order to make certain that all the plaque and tartar is removed from the places where the brush can’t necessarily reach. Our hygienists will assist you with this; it might surprise many of you but there is a specific technique to flossing, and it’s one that many people have never learnt!

Tongue cleaning

Cleaning your tongue removes bacteria that can contribute towards bad breath and get rid of decaying food particle and fungi. Removing all of these will assist you in your goal of not succumbing to gum diseases and ensuring that you have a healthy mouth.

Our number one aim is prevention with education. The more our clients do at home the less complex and invasive work they need from us.
