Dr. Tariq Idrees

Dr. Tariq Idrees

BDS(Manc) MFDS RCS(Edin)

Hello my name is Tariq Idrees and I am the owner of Carisbrook Dental. I took over the practice in 2007 and my aim is to provide the best possible experience and treatment for our patients. This seems to be working as many of our patients have referred their friends and families which I think is a testament to our team and clinicians.

I qualified from Manchester University with honours in 2001. After a year in practice I gained one of only two places nationally to study restorative dentistry at the prestigious Leeds Dental Institute. During my time there I treated numerous complex dental cases referred by general dentists. I also gained an additional registered qualification which involved numerous examinations, the MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

After my time in Leeds I moved back to Manchester and started working for Lund Osler Dental based in the Harvey Nichols Department store Manchester. Here I gained immense experience and expertise in dental cosmetics and facial rejuvenation treatments. Whilst there I treated a wide variety of clients from all walks of life, be they dinner ladies, footballers or their wives, soap stars or pop stars.

I have worked alongside and trained with some of the world leaders in cosmetic dentistry such as Dr Surinder Hundle. Dr Hundle is the Cosmetic Dentist for Channel 4’s make over programme “10 Years Younger”. I have also treated patients from the show and appeared on cosmetic shows on Channel M and Living TV.

I am passionate about cosmetic dentistry such as veneers and about treating nervous patients. Many clients come to see me who have not seen a dentist for years, they may not have been attending due to fear or they may have been ashamed of their smile. I feel especially proud once I have gained their trust, answered all their questions and given them a beautiful natural smile.  It’s so rewarding to see them smile confidently for the first time in years and no longer be scared of going to the dentist.

I have completed numerous courses on cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, and treatment of nervous patients. I have also completed a series of courses by the New York Aesthetic Advantage Group run by Dr Larry Rosenthal who is regarded as the world leader in advanced dentistry.  It is one of the most advanced and respected cosmetic dental courses in the world. As well as constantly going on new courses myself for the benefit of my patients I am a mentor and teach cosmetic dentistry to fellow dentists.

Outside dentistry, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and playing sports.  I am a keen footballer when fit!

Dr. Jamie Barrie

Dr. Jamie Barrie

BDS (Glasgow)

I’m originally from Scotland and studied dentistry at the University of Glasgow. I found my passion for dentistry more than 16 years ago when I first got involved in the profession as a dental nurse.

I pride myself on providing high-quality general dentistry with a minimally invasive approach, preserving as much healthy tooth as possible with up to date methods such as adhesive white fillings, whitening and short-term orthodontics. I work with my patients to meet their needs, from simple dentistry to improving their smiles and keeping them looking natural.

In surgery, I have a friendly and relaxed manner as I feel this helps me to create a stress-free environment, understand any issues my patients may have and get the best outcome for any treatment.
I want my patients to feel able to ask me questions, to feel at ease in surgery and, importantly, to feel comfortable during any treatment. I will gladly welcome any questions you may have of me to help make informed decisions surrounding your dental care.

I enjoy keeping up to date and increasing my knowledge both by attending courses nationally and by being a regular member of a dental study club.
Away from dentistry I am a qualified ski instructor and count the minutes from one ski season to the next. I qualified and worked in New Zealand between nursing and going to university. I enjoy reading, audiobooks and of course a good holiday.

My partner and I have dogs and enjoy spending our free time on walks in the Pennines near where we currently live. I also love cars and motorbikes, and have recently passed my bike test, so enjoying being on the road again.

Dr. Rhys Gwyn

Dr. Rhys Gwyn

BDS (Newcastle) MFDS RCPS (Glasgow) DipConSed

I graduated from Newcastle University in 2016 with a merit in academic dentistry and have been working in the north east ever since. I have also gained the MFDS qualification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow which involved multiple exams.

I am highly motivated and meticulous about providing high-quality dentistry and have invested a considerable time honing my skills and knowledge to provide a wide range of treatment options for my patients. I have a passion for dentistry and am always looking to attend courses to further my knowledge. I have recently finished studying a year-long restorative course with Professor Paul Tipton. My aim is to put patients at ease and complete treatment in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

As well as general dentistry I have an interest in sedation. This led me to complete a certificate in intravenous sedation with Yorkshire Sedation Training and I have received my diploma in conscious sedation at Newcastle Dental Hospital. With this I am able to provide the highest standard of sedation techniques to help nervous patients overcome their dental fears and have treatment.

Outside of work I try to play golf, enjoy socialising with friends and I am a Newcastle United and Wales fan.
