Dental veneers to make you smile

Porcelain veneers are one of the most highly sought-after cosmetic dental procedures we offer at our Manchester practice. They are wafer-thin, custom made shells of tooth-coloured porcelain or composite, designed to improve the appearance of the front of your teeth.

  • Natural-looking restoration
  • Tailor-made for your teeth
  • Long-lasting for a flawless smile

Why choose dental veneers?

Our patients choose porcelain veneers for a variety of reasons:

Stained teeth

Stains that can’t be improved with teeth whitening or other methods can be covered up with porcelain veneers.

Damaged teeth

Damaged teeth can wear away for a variety of reasons, such as through excessive grinding or due to too many sugary sweets or drinks, which can leave the teeth chipped or broken. Porcelain veneers can be used to repair these teeth.

Gaps

Unsightly gaps between teeth can easily be closed using dental veneers.

Tooth Extraction

Crooked teeth

While braces or aligners are usually recommended for severely crooked teeth, veneers can be used to cover over slightly crooked teeth to give a perfect looking smile.

The dental veneers treatment process

Getting porcelain veneers usually requires several trips to our Manchester dental practice.

Consultation:

The first appointment will be for a consultation where your dentist will ensure that porcelain veneers are appropriate and discuss the procedure. Impressions and x-rays may also be taken for planning at this stage.

preparation:

The second appointment involves preparation of the teeth. To do this, half a millimetre of enamel is carefully removed from the tooth. An impression of your tooth/teeth is taken and sent to the laboratory so the veneers can be created.

fitting:

On the third appointment your new veneers will be fitted. They may need to be trimmed or adjusted. The teeth will be thoroughly cleaned and the veneers cemented into place to leave a beautiful winning smile.

If you are having a smile makeover, an additional stage may be required. This involves preparing a diagnostic wax model of your projected results called a wax up. It lets our patients see the projected result before any tooth work is commenced. This stage helps plan your case and makes the results much more predictable and, more importantly, even more beautiful.

Frequently asked questions about dental veneers

Will my teeth be damaged during the treatment process?

Your dentist will always try to keep damage to your healthy teeth to an absolute minimum. The damage to your teeth will depend on the complexity and the position of the tooth. Your dentist will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of veneers with you at your appointment.

How can I be sure I will like the look of dental veneers?

At Carisbrook Dental we recommend having a diagnostic stage showing you what the final result will look like. It lets our patients see the projected result before any tooth work is commenced. This stage helps plan your case and makes the results much more predictable. It involves wax models or computer generated 3D images, so you can preview your new smile.

How do I clean my dental veneers?

To ensure your dental veneers last and keep looking good, maintaining excellent oral hygiene is important. We recommend brushing your veneers twice a day and flossing daily.
