DO IT RIGHT NOW!

There’s no better time to adopt a basic dental hygiene routine

The beginning of January. The start of another New Year. The time when people resolve to make some improvements to their lives and their lifestyle. Lose weight. Get fit. Become healthier. So how about this one? Make one of your 2018 New Year resolutions to look after your dental health. Just by adopting a basic dental hygiene routine you’ll quickly find that your teeth and gums feel healthier, your breath smells sweeter, your food tastes better, your smile becomes more attractive … in fact your whole appearance, your self-confidence and sense of well being will improve. All thanks to that basic dental hygiene resolution. What’s not to like? You won’t have to make major changes to your life either, because basic dental hygiene, although it only takes a few minutes every day, will very quickly become part and parcel of your daily routine. The first stage of a basic dental hygiene routine is to always remember the importance of cleaning your teeth as soon as you get up in a morning and again the last thing at night. Our cleaning advice is that you should always use fluoride toothpaste and a good quality, medium (not hard) bristle brush. Spend about two-minutes every time you brush your teeth and be sure to brush every part of your mouth. We also recommend that you should floss regularly to clean in between your teeth and also that you should also occasionally rinse with an antiseptic mouthwash. As well as regular, thorough brushing that will definitely help to prevent tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath, we also recommend that you should look at your diet. A major factor of basic dental hygiene is that you should avoid too many sweet foods and sugary, fizzy drinks. These are all a major cause of tooth decay. Just by cutting down on sweet foods and drinks and eating more sensibly you’ll do your teeth, your mouth and your entire body a huge favour. One other very important piece of basic dental hygiene advice we would always pass on is that you should arrange regular check-ups with your Dentist Manchester. This way your dentist can keep a close eye on the condition of your teeth and gums and if they do spot a potential problem they can quickly fix it before it becomes a major and often painful issue. So there it is. Your new basic dental hygiene routine will only take a few minutes of your day plus a little common sense regarding diet and dental visits, but the benefits it will bring you will last a lifetime.Make 2018 the year you resolve to take better care of your teeth, improve your smile and feel better all-round.If you would like any further advice on basic dental hygiene or to discuss any dental matters, please make an appointment to visit one of our dental team.
