We offer two proven whitening systems. Both start with a free consultation and custom-made trays that fit your teeth precisely.
Home whitening with custom-made trays
We take a digital scan or impressions of your teeth and make trays that fit you exactly. You wear them at home with a professional whitening gel, at times that suit you. Most people see good results within two to three weeks, and you can stop once you are happy with your shade.
In-practice whitening
Our in-practice whitening is a one-hour session here in the surgery. It forms the final stage of our Enlighten system, rather than a stand-alone treatment, and helps boost and even out your results.
Combination whitening
Enlighten combines both. You whiten at home with custom trays for two weeks, then visit us for your one-hour in-practice session. Enlighten is our most popular option, because it gives the brightest and most even results of the two systems.
Is teeth whitening safe?
Yes, when it is carried out or prescribed by a dentist. Professional whitening gels are regulated, and your custom trays keep the gel on your teeth and away from your gums.
Some people notice short-term sensitivity during treatment, which usually settles once whitening is finished. Whitening is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for under 18s except to treat a dental condition.

How long do results last?
How long your results last depends on your habits. Coffee, tea, red wine, curry and smoking will all bring staining back sooner. With good oral hygiene and regular hygienist visits, most people keep a noticeably brighter smile for a long time, and your custom trays can be reused for occasional top-ups at home. We will explain what to expect from each system at your consultation.
A few simple habits help your results last longer:
- Drink coffee, tea and red wine through a straw where you can, or rinse with water afterwards.
- Avoid strongly coloured food and drink for the first 48 hours after whitening.
- Keep up your hygienist visits, which remove surface stains before they build up.
- Use your trays for an occasional top-up, as advised by your dentist.
Whitening when you have crowns, veneers or fillings
Whitening gel only lightens natural tooth enamel. It will not change the colour of crowns, veneers, bonding or white fillings. If you have dental work on your front teeth, we will plan carefully so everything matches.
